Juror's Statement
|
There are many ways to judge a show and
your Online Competition is one of the newer forms of
showcases. For a judge, it leaves many questions unanswered
that viewing work in person would resolve.
However, taking those handicaps in mind, one still sees
overall conceptual and compositional thinking which is the
bedrock of good painting. The work selected for the special
mentions exhibits this good foundation as well as
imagination, personal choice of color, and most of all that
illusive presence of the artist's spirit within the creative
work itself. Many of the paintings were worthy of repeated
study before choices were made. Congratulations to all who
entered and special commendation to those ten chosen for
special recognition.
