The opening show and reception of the Watercolor Society of Alabama Members' Showcase held September 18, 2011, was well attended . This year we are pleased to bring you the exhibit via our web site. WSA Purpose: • Promote and foster work in watercolor • Offer incentives to assist artists working in watercolor • Hold annual exhibitions and competitions WSA Objectives: • Grow Alabama emerging artists and prepare them to enter National Competitions. • Provide service to the art viewing public and students by enabling Alabamians to view choice works in this medium from all regions of the USA. Often WSA is asked why we limit the Showcase entries to Alabama members. The volunteer effort needed to make the National Exhibition one of the best of all national shows is largely provided by Alabama members. WSA is dedicated to supporting our state members by giving them the opportunity to exhibit their works in this Showcase without having to compete on the national level. Alabama experienced artists use this exhibition to help emerging water-media artists grow in the competition arena, so when the time is right, they will be ready to compete in the National Exhibition. Our thanks to all 52 participating artists in the exhibition. WSA is honored to hold this inspiring showcase. Our sincere appreciation goes to Mr. Wayne Spradley, of Pell City, who juried the Showcase.
